Mercia CRC – Virtual Social Meeting, 21/10/2020

It was with pleasure that I received an invitation to attend a social meeting on the same evening that Mercia CRC would normally meet by the Chapter Recorder Ill Bro Mike Coleman, who hosted the meeting in great chat show mode. A much enjoyable 30 minutes of catching up with members who attended and with the well being of a few that couldn’t make it. Ill Bro Michael Branch updated us with the Kettering Masonic Centre news which was refreshingly upbeat in these difficult times. A few ideas were shared in keeping in touch with members and with much good banter and a ‘burglar’ in the room, the time went all too quickly. Thank you Mercia and I look forward to seeing you all again soon.

District Promotions 2019/20

The District promotions for 2019/20 have now been announced and published on the site, congratulations to all. See the list here.

Technically all are ‘elected and awaiting promotion’. Because of Covid-19 restrictions promotion dates have been delayed until it is possible to hold meetings.

Virtual meeting

The Supreme Council much regrets its inability to travel round the Districts in person at present, particularly during the 175th anniversary year of our Order and so have started to do virtual meetings for each District, hosted on Zoom, in the hope that the visit will go some way towards keeping members engaged with the Order during this most challenging period.

Our District’s virtual visit was held at 6pm on Monday 28th September and I was delighted to see lots of familiar an happy faces appear once the meeting was opened. Some 65 members from our district were present.

M Ill Bro David Williamson 33rd Degree Grand Chancellor spoke about the current situation and the reasoning behind the Supreme Councils decision to suspend meetings until further notice. He then went on to explain in detail about the financial effects of COVID-19 on the Order and its Headquarters at St James’s. This was very interesting and shows the work that Supreme Council are doing in the well running of our Order. It was also demonstrative of how important our Subscriptions are during this period.

Questions that had been submitted in advance were voiced by V. Ill. Bro Barrie Hall, Past Inspector General and Ill Bro Ian McLachlan, District Recorder, were answered and then a few more questions from the attendees were also answered.

It was also suggested that some lectures could be hosted by King Edward VII Chapter during the suspension.

The feedback received from members over the few days that followed was very positive.

New District Website

Welcome to the brand new website for the Rose Croix District of Northamptonshire and Huntingdonshire.

This site has been created as a focal point for interest in our wonderful order as well as a resource for its members. General information on the order, meeting dates, contact points for enquiries and downloads for members are all to be found on its pages.

We will be looking for each Chapter to send us information on their activities and we will publish those stories here for all to see. We hope to make this site as vibrant and inteesting as the Rose Croix order itself.
